It’s hard to find someone not working on a potters wheel in the town of Maragogipinho. But Rosalvo Santana is not like everyone else. He started making pots, but one day decided to make the image of a saint. “I taught myself. I’m always improving my work, and I like to make each piece full of details. It’s the baroque style. Each piece takes me around 8 or 10 days to finish. It was a good thing that I won a nativity scene competition in Pelourinho (Salvador, BA), in 1998.” Rosauro never complains. Today, all his pieces are sold to galleries and to private collectors. |
