Almir Oliveira da Cruz – Mimo – loves sculpture and roosters. 40 years old, he says he started carving wood when he was 13 or 14. “I used to work with Dory, brother of Doidão Bahia, and always watched Louco at work. He always encouraged us and so I got started. My work tries to rescue our African Roots. I even made an sculpture with that name. It’s in our blood and in the town of Cachoeira.”
