Peace reigns in the Timbó community, thanks to the reservoir that runs among the hills and farms in the Guaranhus region. There lives Master Frida – Valfrido de Oliveira César.
This calm man was born in 1957 and rarely goes to the big city. “When I was a kid my father had a friend who made whirligig for him. I grew up with that in my head. So I made one. At first just with wood, without a face. Then I decided to give it a face. We are not born knowing everything, are we? We make something; someone sees it and copies it. So you need to be good at it. Now things are good here. A person from Recife took my pieces there to sell, and there is a place in Garanhuns (Casa da Cidadania) that also helps to sell them. So, working with others like this makes things easier.”
