Ivan Cordeiro is the newest young talent of Guaraqueçaba (PR). Self-taught, he attended secondary school and at 15 he used to draw until he discovered ceramics. He knows he still has a lot to learn, as for someone born in 1980 and moulding clay for only 5 years the path is long and full of promise. Ivan likes to work with regional themes. His sculpture “The Crab Catcher” won a state award in 2005. It shows mangroves emerging from the back of a fisherman, and is at the same time expressive and sublime. He has experimented with other materials but it is without a doubt that his greatest talent can be seen in his clay work. |
