In São Gonçalo Beira Rio, there is a 74-year-old gentleman famous for his clay dolls. Clínio de Moura, a former sailor, retired and then started helping his wife who used to make animals, pots and other clay objects. Now, Clínio is famous for his saints, regional bands and the other local characters he sculpts. With the help of his daughter Nilce and his son Ozil, the family carries on, with an eye on the river and the certainty of what works for them. “We make a living from clay, and will carry on doing so.” |
